a tourist attraction

(@ Niagara Falls with the fam; my mom and I (the apple never seems to fall too far from the tree); some things I whipped up to celebrate my aunts visiting (the lemon coconut cookies I baked were too delish!); I also baked a raspberry white chocolate cheese cake for the special occasion)
With relatives visiting this weekend, I've realized that sometimes whenever we bring visitors around, we remember again why we love where we are. Or maybe it's just the company that makes everything so pleasurable. The part I hate though is when it's time for everyone to leave and for everyone else to go back into their regular old routine.
On a side note, we have a plant at home (which is always looking like it's about to die) that rarely ever blossoms (every 7-9 years or so, there'll be flowers), but anyways, over these past two weeks, this sneaky little plant decided to grace our home with some beautiful flowers. We try to take pictures of it once in a while 'cause I guess it's a pretty special thing...hehe

loving: I Do

A couple of weeks ago, I took a solo trip to New York city to visit my future school! I was there for a weekend and had the opportunity to walk around and digest the idea that I'll soon be leaving home to live in a such a mega city! On my second and last day there, while I was walking to the school for a tour/information session, I noticed a sign for a vintage flea market. It was along the way of walking towards the school and I was early, so I really couldn't resist stopping by. I'm so glad I decided to stop there because I ended up picking up some jewelery. I didn't shop much that weekend, but I definitely stuffed myself! First, I certainly couldn't leave the city without getting some Pinkberry frozen yogurt (lychee and lime flavour) and after leaving Pinkberry, I crossed the street to find an extremely busy bakery called "Paris Baguette". I got a sweet potato cream cheese sandwich and some sort of flat bread (?), and they were both so delicious! After all that food (I also stopped for some sushi...), I stopped at a cafe called "Élé" to get a sweet potato latté. I know that sounds kind of weird, but really, don't judge until you've tried it! Aside from visiting the school, the foods I ate was seriously the most memorable and the best part about travelling alone is you get to see and eat everything that you want, and only the things you want lol.
The other day, I went to the pet store and saw this humongous dog lying on the ground in the middle of the store! I obviously joined the ten or so people who were already surrounding the dog trying to get a picture of him (or her). I got a picture with the dog, but I looked extremely awkward (sort of in the middle of looking excited and giddy over seeing such a huge dog and looking like I'm just about ready to run if the dog decides to get up.). The last picture is something I whipped up real quick today after dinner to satisfy a craving for some sweets. I layered some crushed cereal, graham crackers, freshly ground almonds, peanut butter, Nutella, chocolate chips, raisins....etc and popped it in the microwave. But speaking of craving for sweets, personally, I am absolutely addicted to candies and such, I just came upon a post from the health and fitness section of the Glamour magazine blog suggesting that candy and chocolate lovers are actually slimmer than those who don't love the sweets! (Sweet News: Candy Lovers Are Surprisingly Thinner--Do You Heart Candy?) hmmmm...

P.S. I heard this song on a commercial for TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress", and I absolutely love it!
It's called "I Do" by: Colbie Caillat

accepted

(scarf: I knit, everything else is from hk!)
The most wonderful thing happened the day that I got back from vacation! I received a notice on my door saying that I missed a package that was delivered and that it would be delivered again the next day. That had me thinking: "hmm, what could that be? How could the sender know that I would be back on that day, and know to send it that day as well?!" Anyways, the package came again the next day, and it turned out to be an envelope. Lo and behold, it was my acceptance letter from FIT in New York! AHHHHH! How wonderful that I came back just in time to get my acceptance letter!

1at a Japanese restaurant in Vancouver
2the houses in Vancouver are so pretty!
3really good fresh grapefruit juice in Hong Kong
4my Aunt's cats. They are so cute!
5the plane ride home. I think I saw the sunrise/the appearing of the sun?

I haven't had time to look through and filter all my pictures from my vacation(there are just too many), so I uploaded some of the pictures I took with my phone. These photos do not do any justice to the wonderful vacation that I had. Soon, I promise, I'll get up off my lazy bum and publish a post with some actual depth! hehe

in the meantime:
